'Wildlife on your Waterways' Project Officer, Camden


Grade 3 - £19,000 - £25,000 pro rata. Entry point likely to be at £22,500, depending on experience.
Part time 2.5 days per week
Based at Camley Street Natural Park NW1

London Wildlife Trust’s ‘Wildlife on your Waterways’ project, is a two year initiative supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund to raise awareness of the Regent’s canal between Camden Lock and Islington Tunnel, to involve volunteers from the local community in surveying and making improvements to its biodiversity value.

The Project Officer will design and deliver a regular programme of environmental volunteering activities and public events to raise awareness of the industrial and natural heritage of the canal and foster community ownership of this important local feature. They will also be responsible for the set up and coordination of a project Steering Group involving a range of partner organisations to oversee the development and delivery the project.

To be successful you will have sound conservation knowledge and demonstrable understanding of UK urban ecology and green space issues. In addition to relevant work experience and/ or an environmental, horticultural or conservation qualification, the post holder will need to be highly organised with the ability to manage their time effectively. The project will also involve managing interns on 6 month placements as well as a range of other volunteers from different backgrounds.
